v0.1.2 Public Version Released!

Hey Folks on Itch,

So I really wanted to get something out for you guys before the end of the month. My scheduling will be busy this week, and I'm not sure how much work I'll be able to get done on the game.

Something that I've been thinking of a lot recently is whether or not I should do weekly updates. In one way, it'll be great to get more exposure from people with more updates. But on the other hand, I don't want you kind folks downloading update after update and only seeing maybe a handful of new scenes. I think if I were in your shoes, I'd be slightly annoyed by it but I'd probably just wait a few updates before downloading and playing.

That being said, I'm very happy with the amount of work I got done for 0.1.2. In this update, we introduce one new H-scene for Silvia... One scene for Serena... One scene for Estelle... and 2 new characters. I've also changed Makoto's outfit. Looking at it over, I really wish I had more time this week to add more content. But as I've said previously, I wanted something out before the end of October.

Another thing I've been wondering about is if the grinding is too much. In my opinion, I don't think that it's too bad but my gaming experience is obviously different from yours. So far, it takes three days to reach 9 affection and about $1,000. To reach $10,000 (which I'm currently planning for one of the characters), it will take about 10 days. That's not TOO bad, right? I don't want to make the amount for the contract TOO low because it simply doesn't seem that realistic... Then again, making $1,000 by doing 3 odd jobs per day isn't that realistic at all either... I'll be making a poll later to see what you guys think.

One last thing I want to clear up. If you've played the game, you should have noticed that there are some "hidden stats" that you get from talking to the girls. At the moment, these stats don't do much except increase the amount of money you get from working. For instance, working at the store gives you money that's increased by your "charisma stat". I've only been asked this question once, but I figure I should clear it up here.

CURRENT VERSION: 0.1.2

Update:

  • One new H-scene for Silvia
  • One new scene for Serena
  • One new scene for Estelle
  • Introducing two new characters
  • Makoto's model has been updated

From my experience, the best for both you and players (and patrons too, or anyone else who donates for the game in any way) would be: 1 update per month consisting of a few exclusive betas, a pre-release and, by the end of said month or the first few days of the next one, the public release. It would be the best workflow considering that you know when to slow down from time to time to avoid burnouts which lead to creativity blocks.

There's also the option of making a weekly dev update, or just make these at random intervals when you feel it's needed to let people know how the next update is shaping up, to warn of any problems with your hardware/software which may delay said update, etc.

I didn't play the game yet, I just downloaded it and I'll make sure to talk about it as soon as I'm done.

Thanks for the advice. We'll see how it goes. I am planning on releasing 1-2 updates per month. I want enough content in the game to justify downloading the a new version. Oh, thanks for playing. I hope you enjoy the game as much as I enjoyed making it.
